We (a family of 5 including 3 teenager sons) just spent our 2025 Christmas holidays at Club Med Albion Villas in Mauritius and I must say it was one of our best holidays ever.
We had visited that Club Med village and stayed in the villas 2 times before COVID but our last experience wasn’t that good and so it was not really on our minds any longer. However, as our oldest has exams at university in January we needed somewhere he could study in peace and quietness and where the other 2 could enjoy themselves without bothering him. The village recently also has been turned into an Exclusive Collection resort and as you can see from my trip advisor post on Club Med Marrakech that is vital if you really want to experience the old Club Med.
We stayed in the villa section of the village. This section is just outside of the main village so it is definitely the quietest part of the village, but you can easily get buggies to bring you to and around the village although we never used them as everything is in walking distance.
The villas are nice, spacious and airy. They offer a nice living room and in our case 2 very large master bedrooms with a dressing, a bathroom with shower and bath and a outside shower room. We also had 2 kids rooms both with an en-suite. The best part of the villas are the gardens (look for the ones with a sea view) as they each have a nice swimming pool and a large patio where breakfast and evening drinks are being served.
The big difference compared to our last time in Mauritius is that the management of the villas is so much better. All credits should go Xavier Boubée, the manager of the villas. You can see that he is in control of his team, he is omni-present be it in an efficient and discrete manner (if you look at my comments on Club Med Samoens, you know how important that is) Examples, our oldest had forgotten his computer mouse, within the hour Xavier made sure he got one. We had a very late departure so he organized us a courtesy room so our oldest could continue to study and we could enjoy our last day to the fullest.
Also a big thanks to our butler Tambatra (every villa has its own butler) who spoiled us every day from breakfast till drinks every evening, attended to all our needs and requests. He also kept the house superclean which is not easy with 3 teenage boys.
For what concerns the food and the restaurant. As mentioned in my review of Club Med Marrakech this has become a touchy subject at Club Med. In the Exclusive Collection of Club Med the food is still like in the old days. The food in Mauritius is very nice. There is an ample choice of both healthy and less healthy food, both local and international dishes. It made us think of Sicily, one of the other Exclusive Collection resorts we did 2 years ago and so much better than the main restaurant at Marrakech (the food in Marrakech is very nice in the Exclsuive Zone of the village, but the main restaurant is not part of the Exclusive Zone and it shows). One other thing which is so much better than Marrakech is the management of the restaurant. The big guy managing the restaurant (I forgot to take his name, apologies) is clearly in charge of his staff which means that you can get a dedicated table (no need to pay or fight like Marrakech), everything is clean, staff is friendly and helpful.
For what concerns sport activities, there is plenty to do. Tennis and padel courts, a soccer pitch, trapeze, beach club and volley, everything is there if you want to start to golf. The resort also has a nice cardio room (not that many weights) with plenty of machines so you never have to wait.
My wife also went several times to the spa and she said that she had a terrific time with massages that were worth it. Again, all credit should go to the manager of the spa, Adinise. My wife made it clear what type of massage she wanted and Adinise made sure that she got the masseuse that could offer this massage.
Our 2 youngest participated to the teenage club. In principle they easily make friends but are not really fans of the teens club. This time that was not an issue, they even got them to participate in the teens spectacle. So all credits to Leroy and the rest of the team.
As you can see from my other posts, even though we are platinum members at Club Med, we will always be honest about our experience with them. In this case, we can only recommend the village and the villas. Our kids (even our student son) have made it clear that they want the 2026 Christmas holidays again in Mauritius.
